Information

Club owner and Fencing Master Tom Jobson has over 40 years of fencing experience. He trained under a French Fencing Master "Stanley St Pellicer" for over ten years of private lessons. He gave private lessons at the Circle D'Escrime Fencing Club, and acredited Fencing Classes for the Junior College District of St. Louis during this time. He has also taught Fencing in Oklahoma (OU), New Jersey (Trenton State), and Pennsylvania.

Our head fencing coach is Lee Miller with more than ten years of private lessons. She has been teaching for over 10 years and is an excellent instructer. Lee, Jeff and Phillip also do Stage Combat and Fencing in the Round.

Fencing is a fun and very safe sport. In my forty years of fencing I have seen more injuries in one game of softball. I sometimes refer to fencing as the european form of karate. The blade is an extension of your forearm and the point your new fist. But only requires 500 to 750 grams of pressure to score a touche (point).

An old saying that fencing is a mobile game of chess is very true. But you don't run the risk of your oponent hitting you in the head with a rook if he loses the bout.

Fairfax Fencers, LLC (FX Fencers) is a private club with over 2100 sq. ft. of open fencing space and four electrical practice strips. The fencing terrain has 18 ft ceilings and is covered with 3/4 thick rubber, which is great to fence on and easy on the knees. The Fairfax Fencers have been in the Fairfax County area for over 15 years.

We include both recreational fencers and those who practice in preparation for tournaments. Our students compete in local, state, and national tournaments, and have gone on to fence for various college teams. At Fairfax Fencers, our goal is to improve our skills while enjoying the fun of fencing.

The private fencing lessons are one on one and group fencing classes are small and personal.

We do hold parties (birthday, singles, church, scouts, ... etc) for groups, practice tournaments second Friday of each month (except Dec), and rent space. You are in the Middle of three Fencing Divisions (www.usfencing.org), so lots of tournaments are available.

Feel free to drop in and observe any class, and email me with any questions (tomj@fxfencers.com).
